Abstract (2. Language):
Plasma oxıdatıve protein damage in hyperthyroid patıents. Various cellular processes in which proteins take part arc affected by oxidative modİfications. Oxidativc stress has been re-ported to be inercased in hyperıhyroidism. We determined plasma oxidative protein damage parameters by coiorimetıic methods in 20 hyperthyroid patients and in 20 euthyroid controls in order to investigate oxidative protein damage in plasma proteins in hypcrthyroidism. Plasma protein carbonyl levels of hyperthyroid paüents wcre significantly inereased comparcd to the controls. On the other hand, plasma protein thiol, total thiol, nonprotein thİol, unsaturated İron binding capacity ievels of hyperthyroid patients were not significantly dİfferent from tho-se of the controls. In hyperthyroid patients, plasma lipid hydroperoxide levels were significantly inereased, and erythrocyte glutaîhionc levels were significantly decreased compared to the control group. In coııchısion, we found that plasma oxidative protein damage was inereased in hyperthyroid paiient.s.
