The leadership was studied and interpreted because ofthe transformations in the context of historical developments in the leadership literature. Today, transformational leadership as a modern leadership approach is accepted commonly in current leadership literature. Transformational leadership was studied in the past with the context of several organizational variables. The purpose of this study is to examine transformational leadership with the self-efficacy as a relative new organizational variable. In the light of the literature, it is considered inthis study that the managers having high self-efficacy would indicate a high degree of transformational leadership. To test the hypotheses created within the study, “Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire” (Bass and Avolio, 1993) and General Self-Efficacy Questionnaire” (Jerusalem and Schwarzer, 1981) was applied to 416 managers from the public sector. In the study, the correlation between the transformational leadership and self-efficacy was studied by using means, t-test, and regression analysis. Within the results of the study, a meaningful relationship is found between the transformational leadership and self-efficacy. In the conclusion, it is found out that, there is a significant difference in transformational leadership scores of the leaders having high and low self-efficacies. So, the leaders having high self-efficacy were also having high scores of transformational leadership and that self-efficacy has an influence on transformational leadership.

Liderlik kavramının, tarihsel süreçte meydana gelen değişimlerden sürekli etkilendiği ve böylelikle her dönemde değişik şekillerde ele alınarak yorumlandığıgörülmektedir. Günümüzde ise, modern liderlik yaklaşımlarının içerisinde yer alan dönüştürücü liderlik kavramıdikkat çekmektedir. Birçok araştırmacı tarafından bu güne kadar dönüştürücü liderlik ile organizasyonlardaki farklıdeğişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, genel öz yeterlik ile dönüştürücü liderlik arasındaki ilişki ve etkiler ortaya çıkarılmasıdır. Bu çalışmada konuyla ilgili teorik ve kuramsal yazın incelendiğinde; öz yeterliği yüksek yöneticilerin daha fazla dönüştürücü liderlik özelliklerine sahip olabileceği düşünülmüştür. Bu kuramsal ve teorik gerçekliği sınamak üzere geliştirilen hipotezleri test etmek üzere, dönüştürücü liderliği ölçmek için Bass ve Avolio (1993) tarafından geliştirilen “Çok Faktörlü Liderlik Anketi (MLQRR)”, öz yeterliği ölçmek için ise, Jerusalem ve Schwarzer tarafından 1981 yılında geliştirilmişolan “Genel Öz Yeterlik Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Her iki ölçek de çeşitli kamu kurumlarında çalışan 416 yöneticiye uygulanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında, dönüştürücü liderlik ile öz yeterlik arasındaki korelasyonlar araştırılmış, ortalama puanlarıarasındaki fark t-testi ile test edilmiştir. Öz-yeterliğin dönüştürücü liderliğe etkisini belirlemek amacıyla, aşamalıregresyon analizi yapılmışve dönüştürücü liderlik ile öz yeterlik arasında anlamlıilişki bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, yüksek öz yeterliliğe sahip yöneticiler ile düşük öz yeterliliğe sahip yöneticilerin dönüştürücü liderlik puanları arasında anlamlıbir farklılık olduğu, öz-yeterliği yüksek yöneticilerin daha yüksek dönüştürücü liderlik puan ortalamalarına sahip olduğu ve öz yeterliğin dönüştürücü liderliği etkilediği sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
