The new economic conditions which came to agenda with the process of globalization for obtaining competitive advantage forced the firms to be dependent to the strategic Human Resource Management (HRM). In this framework, the firms in order to gain more competitive advantage have formed the new processes of strategic HRM involving best application, the best fitting approaches. The best fitting approach put forwards the idea of necessity for establishing a strong relationship between the strategy belonging to the strategic HRM and general firm strategy. The best application approach on the other hand, should determine the best strategic HRM applications supporting general firm strategy. In the course of strategic management, the role and efficiency of the best applications in the global competition is quite important. A theoretical analysis based on the best application approach for the role and efficiency of SHRM in global competition constitutes the starting point of this study. Accordingly, the aim of this study, in the competitive conditions aroused in the course of globalization, to analyze the provisions and sources of strategic HRM's contribution as a strategic application.

Küreselleşmeyle birlikte gündeme gelen yeni ekonomik koşullar işletmeleri, rekabet avantajı sağlama adına, stratejik insan kaynakları yönetimi (İKY)' ne bağımlı kılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede işletmeler, daha fazla rekabet üstünlüğü kazanmak için, en iyi uygulama ve en iyi uyum yaklaşımlarının yer alacağı yeni İKY süreçlerini ortaya çıkarmaktadırlar. En iyi uyum yaklaşımı, İKY'ne ait strateji ile işletmenin genel stratejisi arasında bir uyumun veya güçlü bir ilişkinin kurulması gerektiğini savunmaktadır. En iyi uygulama yaklaşımına göre ise; İKY, yaratıcı ve esnek bir örgüt kültürü, misyon ve vizyon geliştirerek işletmenin benimsediği stratejiyi destekleyen en iyi uygulamaları belirlemelidir. Stratejik İKY' ne en iyi uygulamaların, küresel rekabetteki rolü ve etkinliği ise oldukça önemlidir. Bu bağlamda, stratejik İKY küresel rekabetteki rolünü ve etkinliğini ortaya koymak için en iyi uygulamalar yaklaşımını esas alan bir teorik inceleme yapmak çalışmanın çıkış noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmanın amacı; küreselleşmeyle ortaya çıkana rekabet koşullarında, stratejik uygulamalar olarak İKY, hangi açılardan ve ne tür katkılar sağlayacağını incelemektir.
