Abstract (2. Language):
Since the invention and application of rotary instruments, the operative treatment of carious lesions has often resulted in considerable removal of tooth structure. More recently, newer techniques for removal of carious dentine have been developed in an attempt to minimize this excessive tissue loss. The chemomechanical caries removal technique involves the chemical softening of carious dentine followed by its removal by gentle excavation with some specially designed hand instruments. The following article reviews and discussed some of the techniques available to excavate demineraliscd dentine clinically and the effect of one of the chemomechanical caries removal system Carisolv on tooth tissue is presented.
