Abstract (2. Language):
Submaximal and maximal running tests of 8 subjects, one ultramarathon and one distance runner, one football and one voleyball hlayer, one body builder and three swimmer-water polo players who have different training background, were done on the treadmill. All subjects were recreational or competitor Physical Education students and running some distance in a week together with their main sports activities. Maximal oxygen uptake (VO max), fractional utilisation of VO max at different submaximal running speed (% VO max) running economy, running speed at the anaerobic threshold (V4mM) oxygen uptake at the anaerobic threshold (VO 4mM) and its quantity as a percentage of VO max (%VO 4mM), respiratory quotient (RQ), expired air volume (VE), rating of perceived exertion and percentage of body fat of subjects were analysed. Results showed that athletes who have large VO max value can have low running economy. Therefore, we concluded if athlete has a low VO max value which influences the performance of running he can compensate it with a good running economy. Interval and threshold training methods were recommended to the subjects to improve their performance according to test results appraised to their types of activities. In addition, sta-tisticaly significlant relation were observed between running performance and running economy, VO max, V4mM, VO 4mM.
