Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study is to analyse gravity effect of democracies among trade relations. The study which is specific on Turkey, tries to explain Turkey's export and import relations with democratic, partly democratic and nondemocratic country groups with their mutual democracy levels. The data set, prepared according to the panel gravity model of 145 countries covers the years 1996 and 2008. According to the findings attained; democracy levels of Turkey and countries trade relation associated with are significant in different levels in affecting export volume mutually. While the highest gravity effect is with democratic countries, as the level of democracy recedes this effect decreases. In terms of imports, there is no significant result except the unilateral gravity effect of democratic countries. Generally, the democratization process in Turkey is precipitated to increase the import volume with the democratic and developed countries proportionally other countries.
