Abstract (2. Language):
Radio is seen as one of the most important inventions of mankind since the
beginning of the 20th Century and called “the magic box” in the entire world. Even
though it could be considered that radio has been losing its popularity against the
rapid technological development of the 21st Century, it is still popular and widely
used. Radio has been used for several purposes such as the instrument of
information, entertainment, propaganda and so forth. Several states facilitated the
radio as the easiest way to get in touch with the society rather than the newspapers
and the magazines. Particularly, radio was used as the means of propaganda in times
of the World War II. At the same time, the authorities also enjoyed the power of
radio in Turkey from the beginning of the 1920’s. The radio was a crucial instrument
for construction of the new regime and introduction of the governmental policies.The radio as a public institution was under the state control for several years and the
programmes broadcasted with political, social and cultural content were all simply
served for the introduction of the new order.

Radyo, XX. yüzyılın baslarından itibaren insanlıgın en büyük icatlarından biri olarak
görülmüs ve hemen hemen her toplumda sihirli kutu olarak tanımlanmıstır. XXI.
yüzyılın önü alınamayan teknolojik gelismeleri karsısında saltanatını kaybedecegi
düsünülse de böyle olmadıgı radyonun hâlâ yaygın biçimde dinlendigi görülmektedir.
cat edildiginden bu yana radyo çesitli amaçlarla, enformasyon, eglence, propaganda
vb. kullanılmıstır. Pek çok devlet, insanlara ulasmanın en kısa ve kolay yollarından biri
olan ve bu yüzden kısa süre içinde gazete ve derginin yerini alan radyodan yararlanma
yoluna gitmistir. Özellikle kinci Dünya Savası yıllarında radyonun en fazla
propaganda amacıyla kullanıldıgı görülmüstür. Türkiye’de de 1920’li yılların
sonlarından itibaren dinleyicisiyle bulusan radyonun gücünden yararlanıldıgı
görülmektedir. Kurulan yeni devletin politikasını benimsetmesinde, rejimin
yerlestirilmesi çabasında radyo önemli bir araç olmustur. Uzun süre devlete baglı bir
kurum olan radyoda yapılan sosyal, siyasal ve kültürel içerikli yayınlarla yeni düzenin
benimsetilmesi gayreti açıkça görülmektedir.
