Abstract (2. Language):
This paper aims at reviewing and evaluating contributions of Richard Hyman to the field of industrial relations. Through the use of Marxist analysis, Hyman developed an original industrial relations theory, which put the emphasis on the fundamental nature of conflict between labour and capital in explaining industrial relations structures, processes and actors. In recent years, Hyman has, somewhat, retreated from his original position as a radical Marxist. Despite this, he has been able to maintain his critical stance in the analysis of industrial relations phenomena.
