Abstract (2. Language):
Peritonitis is an important complication of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis therapy. Qualification of dialysis and nutritional status have been related with morbidity and mortality in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. In this study, we evaluated the qualification of dialysis and nutritional parameters related to frequency of peritonitis in 30 patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Patients were distinguished into two groups; group I consisted of high peritonitis index group with a frequency of peritonitis >2 in a year and group 2 consisted of low peritonitis index group with a frequency of peritonitis <2 in a year. There was no statistically significant difference in the qualification of dialysis. In group 1, serum albumin level was significantly lower than group 2 (p=0.04). In conclusion, peritonitis was not found to be related with qualification of dialysis. However, there was a correlation between peritonitis and serum albumin levels in patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
