Abstract (2. Language):
Purpose: In our invivo study for evaluating the effect of amalgam as coronal or retrograde fillings, on transferring mercury to body fluids like blood and urine. We also investigated the effect of mastication on this subject. Material and Methods: In our study we used 24 adult mongrel dogs To evaluate the presence of mercury in blood we used atomic absorption spectrophotometer technique; in urine we used Lindstedt technique. Results: After the fist week between control and groups 1 and 2 there were significant difference. At urine Hg levels between all the groups there were no significant difference. Conclusion: According to our findings, regardless of the fact that the teeth is in mastication or not, amalgam cavity fillings causes a transfer of mercury to blood and urine. At the first week of the amalgam placement the mercury levels reaches their highest level which decreases with time. However a single retrograde filling don't have an effect like this.
