Abstract (2. Language):
Play is what young children are involved in most of their waking hours. Through play, they integrate all their knowledge and skills. Play serves a number of functions for the young child: It aids in developing problem-solving skills; promotes social and cognitive competence; aids in the development of the distinction between reality and fantasy; promotes curiosity; helps communication, attention span, self control, social language and literacy skills; provides a vehicle for the adult to learn how children view the world; and can be therapeutic. In this research, individual and team games the children have played in the centre of Konya and its centre towns since the declaration of Turkish Republic were introduced and examined via interview with 24 people who were born and have lived in Konya. Nearly 32 individual and team games were found by the application of living sources and by introducing one by one, their contributions were evaluated on the basis of statistics in respect of child education and development.
