Abstract (2. Language):
Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has been rapidly and widely adopted by the surgical community as a minimally invasive staging procedure, and as an alternative to axillary lymph node dissection for patients with breast cancer. A variety of different techniques have been reported for SLN biopsy in breast cancer. SLN biopsy can be performed using injection of a blue dye, radioactive colloid, or both. When radioactive colloid is used, a number of technical issues as well as other reasons causing false negative results should be taken into account for a successful SLN detection.
