Devletin sosyal görevleri arasında eğitim önemi i bir yer işgal etmektedir. Devleti eğitime müdahaleye sevk eden sebepleri ekonomik ve SÜTİVLI] yönleriyle değerlendirmek mümkündür. Sanayileşme ve modernleşme konularındaki atılımlar eğilimin ekonomi için taşıdığı önemi giderek arttırmakta ve iktisatçıları eğitimin ekonomik gelişmeye olan katkısını araştırmaya sevkeimektedır. Eğilimin sosyal hayata olan elkisi ve düzenleyici fonksiyonu da üzerinde önemle durulmasına sebep olan bir diğer yönünü leşkil etmektedir. Toplumun kültür düzeyini arttırmak* bilinçli ve sosyal huzura kavuşmuş bîr toplum yaratmak ancak eğitim seviyesinin yükseltilmesi ile gerçekleş iri I ebi! inektedir.
