This study was carried out aboard "R/V MTA Sismik 1", off Sinop,,, to investigate geological and tectonic features. The
data obtained, have reve.al.ed that the. basemen! was a volcanic unit» overlain, by the 'thin, recent deposits. The sea floor seems to be affected, by
some tectonic features... According to all seismic data related to ihe area, the Tertiary and more recent deposits pinch oui the Upper-Cretaceous
aged basement, in both north and south, side, of the area.

Bu çalışma Sinop açıklarındaki jeolojik ve. tektonik, çizgilerin aras.unlm.asi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. "MTA Sismik 1" ile elde edilen
sismik verilere göre, bölgede volkanik temel genç ve ince çekellerle örtülüdür Deniz tabanında aktif nitelikte faylara da rastlanmaktadır.
Bölge ile ilgili tüm sığ ve derin, verilere göre, Tersiyer ve daha genç formasyonlar,,, bölgenin kuzey ve güneyinden Üst-Kretase yaşlı volkanik
temel üzerine inoeleıek gelmektedir.
