The Investigation of Relationship Between Marital Conflict and Child Behaviour Problems Based on Cognitive-Contextual Framework

The aim of this study is to examine Cognitive-Contextual Framework Model which explains relationships between marital conflict and children's behavior problem from various variables. This study was carried out with 46 couples, 23 of which had high marital conflict and 23 of which had low marital conflict and their children with ages between 9-12 years old. In this study, "Marital Conflict Questionnaire", "Parental Information Form", and "Child Behavior Check List" were applied to the parents and "Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict" was administered to their children. One of the results of this study showed that children from high conjiict homes express more adjustment problems, perception of characteristics of conflict and perception of threat than children from low conflict homes. Positive and significant correlations found between the perception of characteristics of conflict and behavior problems, between children's the perception of characteristics of conflict and threat perception and between children's threat perception and behavior problems, Data obtained from parents information form showed that positive and significant correlations were found between child's related conflict and child's self blame, child's witnessing conflicts and behavior problems

Araştırmanın amacı, evlilik çatışması ve çocuk davranış problemleri arasındaki ilişkiyi çeşitli değişkenler açısından açıklayan bir model olan "Bilişsel-Bağlamsa! Çerçeve"nin sınanmasıdır. Bu çalışma 23'İİ yüksek evlilik çatışması, 23 'ü de düşük evlilik çatışması yaşayan 46 çift ve bu çiftlerin 9-12 yaşlar arasındaki çocukları ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada anne ve babalara "Evlilik Çatışması Ölçeği", "Anne-Baba Bilgi Formu" ve "Çocuk ve Gençler için Davranış Değerlendirme Ölçeği", çocuklara da "Çocukların Evlilik Çatışmasını Algısı Ölçeği" uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları, ebeveynlerin değerlendirmesine göre yüksek evlilik çatışması olan ailelerden gelen çocukların, davranış problemlerinin, çatışma özelliklerine dair algılarının ve tehdit algılarının düşük çalışmalı ailelerden gelen çocuklara göre daha fazla olduğunu göstermiştir. Çocukların çatışma özelliklerine dair a/gdarı ile tehdit algıları ve davranış problemleri arasında; tehdit algıları ile çatışma özelliklerine dair algıları ve davranış problemleri arasında pozitif ve anlamlı korelasyonlar bulunmuştur. Ebeveynlerin bildirdiği çatışmanın çocukla ilgililiği ile çocuğun kendisini suçlaması arasında; yine ebeveynlerin bildirdiği çocuğun çatışmaya şahit olması ile çocuğun davranış problemleri arasında pozitif ve anlamlı korelasyonlar olduğu bulunmuştur.
