Abstract (2. Language):
This study provides a synopsis of various phases of modernist procession in Turkish poetry to which Nâzım Hikmet gave an eminent boost in the 1920s with his poems entitled "835 Satır" and "Güneşi İçenlerin Türküsü." Retrospectively, the study analyzes such predecessors as Tevfik Fikret and Yahya Kemal, and the close correlation of the poetry of 1940s with those predecessors. Next, the study turns its focus on later phases of modernization in Turkish poetry, which are primarily epitomized by Orhan Veli and the 'Garip' Movement, the poetry of Atilla İlhan as well as the 'Second New Movement' in Turkish poetry.
