Abstract (2. Language):
Methods such as seclusion, restraint and medication used for the management of violence in psychiatry clinics can harm the patient both physically and mentally. However, the healthcare worker may regard the use of these forcible and suppressive methods as routine and acceptable to ensure safety. The forcible and suppressive methods used in the management of violence in psychiatry clinics and alternative approaches that support the patient were reviewed in this article. We found that forcible and suppressive methods were mostly preferred for the management of violence and suggest the preparation of legal regulations regarding the use of these methods and new studies on alternative approaches.
