Chronic fatigue syndrome (CTS). a term recently coined for a long-known condition, is characterized by extreme fatigue with other agreed upon criteria sore throat, headaches, and neurological complaints. The illness often has a sudden onset, demonstrable lymphadenopathy. low-grade fever and possibly a psychiatric contribution CIS has followed clearly documented infections with the lipstein-liarr virus, cytomegalovirus, human herpesvirus typv-6. retroviruses, and exposure to toxins are also apparent precipitating agents. Many patients have elevated titers of antibodies to a number of viruses, abnormal production, and depressed function of natural killer cells. Kronik yorgunluk sendromu (KYS), aşırı yorgunlukla birlikte boğa: ağrısı, başağrısı ve nörolojik şikayetler gibi üzerinde anlaşılan diğer kriterlerle karakterize, uzun süredir bilinen ancak son zamanlarda önem kazanan hır haşinliktir Hastalık genellikle belirgin lenfadenopati. hafif ateş ve muhtemelen psikiatrik bir tabloyla aniden haşlar. Ebstein-liarr virüsü (İMİ') ile. sıtomegalovirüslerle (('Ml'). Human Herpesvirus ti/ı-6 (III11-6) ile ve retroviruslerle KYS unun ortaya çıktığı açıkça belirtilmiştir, ayrıca toksinlerle karşılaşma sonucu hastalığın presipite olabileceği düşünülmekledir. Hastaların çoğunda birçok virüse karşı antikor litreleri yükselmiştir, nature/ killer hücrelerin üretimi anormaldir ve fonksiyonları haskılanmıştır.
