There are several reports regarding the rapid resolution of acute epidural hematoma. There are some possible mechanisms may involve in these cases. A 2 year old girl fell from a height and Children Coma Score was 15/15. CT scan revealed a linear fracture on the temporal bone and a right side temporoparietal acute epidural hematoma. The patient was observed in the clinic and control CT scan revealed disappearance of hematoma in the posttraumatic 12th hour. Observation.- Evidence of a fracture in the rare cases of acute epidural hematoma can lead rapid resolution of epidural hematoma with an increaae in the size of scalp hematoma.

Literatürdeki hızla kaybolan AEH örnekleri ile bizim olgumuz karşılaştırıldı (Tablo I). Bu olguların ortak özellikleri, genç yaş grubunda ve AEH olan yerde linear kırık hattının olmasıdır. Epidural hematomların emilmeleri ile ilgili birkaç teori bulunmaktadır. Lindenberg7 Klinger ve Scheideggers'a8 göre, özellikle kronik epidural hematomlar dural yüzde oluşan fibrovasküler neomembran vasıtasıyla emilmektedir. Aoki'ye9-11 göre ise kafatasındaki kırık hattı sayesinde epidural ve epikranyal alanlar birbirleri ile ilişki halinde olduğundan epidural hematom bu kırık hattından epikranyal alana doğru yer değiştirmektedir. Aoki'nin teorisini destekleyen ise bizim olgumuzda da görüldüğü gibi kırık hattının olduğu bölgedeki skalp hematomunun artmasıdır.
