There are various types of soft lining materials used as temporarily and permanently in clinical practice. It is important to understand the intended function of this group of products. The success or failure of these materials is dependent upon the physical and mechanical properties of them as well as the physiological and biological characteristics of the denture basal seat. The aim of this article is to review the clinical indications assessing the need for and likely success of the denture soft lining materials and also, the factors limiting their use

Klinik pratikte, geçici ve daimi olarak kullanılan değişik tipte yumuşak astar materyaller vardır. Bu grup ürünlerden beklenen fonksiyonları anlamak önemlidir. Bu materyallerin başarı ya da başarısızlığı, fiziksel ve mekanik özelliklerinin yanı sıra protez oturma alanının fizyolojik ve biyolojik özelliklerine de bağlıdır. Bu makalenin amacı, yumuşak astar materyallerin muhtemel başarısı ve materyale gereksinimleri belirleyen klinik endikasyonlar ile aynı zamanda, kullanımı sınırlayan faktörleri gözden geçirmektir.
