f all, we intend to give common information about the problematic of the big cities in literary perspective. Then Berlin, which is an example of this problematic and the main element of two pieces, is researched to find traces by analyzing in terms of history and culture. These traces, based on the periods in which the pieces were written, aim to show the periodic differences. In main section we will focus on following the traces such as work and surviving, loneliness and monotony, religious and moral values and crime emphazised in the pieces Berlin Alexander square of Alfred Döblin and Berlin Savingny square of Aras Ören.

Bu makalede öncelikle büyük kent sorunsalının temelleri araştırılarak, edebi çerçevede nasıl ele alındığına dair genel bilgiler verilmiştir. Daha sonra bu sorunsala önemli bir örnek teşkil eden ve iki eserimizin ana kaynağını oluşturan Berlin şehri tarihsel, kültürel açıdan incelenerek bu sorunsaldan izler ve kesitler aranmıştır. Bu kesitler, bilhassa eserlerin kaleme alındığı yıllar temel alınarak dönemsel farklılıkları ön plana çıkarma amacı taşır. Ana bölümde ise Alfred Döblin'in ''Berlin Alexander Meydanı'' ve Aras Ören'in ''Savigny Meydanı'' adlı eserlerinde büyük kent sorunsalını anlama konusunda bizlere ışık tutacak öğeler, iş ve yaşam mücadelesi, yalnızlık ve tekdüze yaşam, dini ve ahlaki değerler, suç başlıkları altında incelenecektir.
