Abstract (2. Language):
With the increased population of aging people, the number of surgeries employed on this age group also increases and as a result, the competency or decision-making capacity has become a question of debate. Various difficulties have been emerged for the informed consent process
of the treatment of elderly patients. There may be physical failings, such as hearing loss, which disrupt the communication and together with
the addition of concomitant diseases of the older age can impair comprehension. In such situations, to obtain consent from the patient becomes an important question, whether the patient is capable of giving informed consent or not. The ethical principles of the physician-patient
relationship emphasize the right of a patient with decision-making capacity to decide what will or will not be done to him/her. Here we report
a case of an elderly patient with hip fracture and an analysis about the question of ethical evaluation of decision-making capacity.

Abstract (Original Language):
sorunlar analiz edilmektedir.
