Abstract (2. Language):
Functional constipation accounts for 25 % of pediatric gastroenterology patients. According to Rome II criteria, functional constipation is defined as the compactness of stool more than 2 weeks in children without any metabolic or endocrinologic disorder. It is the most common form of constipation. The term functional fecal retention defines the severe form of functional constipation. The management of functional constipation is proper timing of toilet training and dietary regulation.
