Abstract (2. Language):
From the 1960s onwards, a number of writers have claimed that a new model of society has been emerging on the basis of new technological progress. With the coming of this new society, the dominant class, institutions, working life and axial principles are changing. In developed economies, manufacturing industry has lost its importance as a source of employment, production and productivity. The 19 Century vision of the society was a factory, it is now a giant bureaucracy. This article examines the work of some of the leading post-industrial writers such as Bell, Gorz and Toffler and argue that the writers have attributed an unusual power to technology in shaping society and have exemplified utopian approaches by predicting unrealistic picture of future.
