By adopting discourse analitic approach, we analyzed how the Turkish migrants and Cypriot Turks constructs their understandings on Cyprus issue, which discursive resources they used, what subject positions they constructed and how negotiated these positions on their daily conversations. With 16 participants who are Cypriot Turks and Turkish migrants, eight focus groups organized which Cyprus issue was discussed. Transcripts were analysed according to discourse analysis's main analytic concepts, interpretative repertoire, subject positions and ideolojical dilemmas(Wetherell ve Potter, 1992; Edley, 2001). As these analyses show that Cypriot Turks and Turkish migrants are unable to construct a shared understanding on this issue, "motherland" and "little one" metaphors are salient in both groups mea¬ning constructions.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, KKTC'de yaşayan Kıbrıslıların ve Türkiyelilerin "Kıbrıs Meselesi"ni konuşurken hangi söylem kaynaklarını kullandıklarının, bu kaynaklara dayanarak/bu kaynakların içinden ne gibi özne pozisyonları ürettiklerinin ve bunları nasıl müzakere ettiklerinin söylem analizi yöntemiyle incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla Kıbrıslı Türkler ve Türkiye'den göç etmiş toplam 16 kişi ile "Kıbrıs meselesi" üzerine tartışmaların yapıldığı sekiz odak grup oluşturulmuş, elde edilen yazı dökümleri, söylem analizinin temel analitik kavramla¬rı olan açıklayıcı repertuarlar, özne pozisyonları ve ideolojik ikilemler (Wetherell ve Potter, 1992; Edley, 2001) açısından analiz edildi. Bu analize göre Kıbrıslı Türkler ile Türkiye'den göç edenlerin Kıbrıs meselesini konuşurken ortak bir anlam inşasına gide¬medikleri, bir anlamda paralel hayatlar sürdürdükleri görülmektedir. Grupların kendi başlarına kurdukları bu anlam inşalarında özellikle "ana vatan-yavru vatan" metaforu dikkat çekicidir.
