Abstract (2. Language):
The reader, so long as he/she carries out a shallow reading of the text overlooking the textual signs the text provides, will be unable to take part in the analysis of the potential meaning of the text. The reader, in order to recept the meaning to form a part of the text should look analytically at the textual signs from various viewpoints and obtain from the textual pieces of meaning various syntheses for revealing the overall meaning of the text. As a matter of fact, the meaning the text is to transmit to the reader is delimited by the meaning to be deduced by him/her. The active reader participating in the process of obtaining a coherent total meaning of the text combines the textual findings with the horizon of his/her own cultural background and world of experiences and consequently captures his/her own overall meaning of the text. The following study aims to analyse the novel entitled "El Hablador" of the Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa at the level of reader/text relationship, placing the reader in a central position. The study comprises a prologue with brief information over reader oriented theories and reader-text relationship on this context and four subtitles: the first one aims to inform the reader briefly on the content of the narrative introducing the main characters with references to the text; the second one studies in a more detailed way the permanent main theme of voyage prevalent throughout the narrative and analyses the reasons for the metamorphoses the narrative characters go through; the third one focuses on the structure and time of narrative underlining the distinction between the narrative styles of the main characters and the study is concluded making a summary of the above mentioned.
