Exceedingly facile expedient protocol based on the versatility and reactivity of intermediate chalcone (5) derived from (E)-2-(4-acetylphenoxy)-3H-benzo[e][1,4]diazepin- 5(4H)-one (4), have been developed to provide isoxazole, pyrazole, pyrimidine derivatives by utilizing the synthetic strategy depicted in schemes-1 and 2. Condensed derivatives (6-9) were screened for their in-vitro antimicrobial potential against various bacterial and fungal species. Besides this pyrazole derivative (7) was also evaluated for its CNS depressant potential in mice using photoactometer.
