¿Son los mercados de Internet más eficientes? Resumen de las últimas evidencias empíricas

Uno de los fenómenos asociados a la Nueva Economía es el E-Business, es decir, la realización de negocios a través de Internet y la consecuente aparición de marketplaces o mercados electrónicos que ‘conviven’ con los mercados tradicionales. Es oportuno plantear el estado del arte de los estudios empíricos centrados en comparar cuan eficiente es cada tipo de mercado. En términos generales, se trata de ver si los actuales estudios han confirmado o no, la hipótesis intuitiva de que los mercados electrónicos son más eficientes, y en consecuencia, más próximos al mercado de competencia perfecta que describe la teoría económica clásica. Este paper centrará su interés en resumir los avances empíricos en el estudio de variables relacionadas con la eficiencia del mercado, como son el precio, su variabilidad, su dispersión y su elasticidad.
