There are several reports regarding the influence of chronic severe anemia on systolic myocardial function, but the effect on diastolic Junction are not clearly determined. In this study, the effects of chronic anemia on myocardial systolic and diastolic function were investigated in 22 patients (lite less 25 percent) and I ~ normal control subjects. All patients and control subjects were performed Al-mode, two dimensional and doppler echocardiography. Left ventricülar end diastolic dimension and volum, endsıstolıc dimension and volume were measured, ejection fraction (EE), stroke volume (Si'), cardiac output (CO) were calculated from this measurements. Peak velocity of the early diastolic filling wave (E). peak velocity of the atrial Jilling wave (A), acceleration time, deceleration time, and ratio of E to A were calculated from transmural flow pattern. We found EE. S\ \ CO, Enddiastolic volume and heart rate in patients with anemia significantly higher, endsystolic volume. E. E:A . signijicantly lower than control subjects. Kronik aneminin miyokart sistolik fonksiyonları ile ilgili birçok çalışma yapılmış olmasına rağmen clivastolik fonksiyonlar üzerine etkisi hakkındaki bilgilerimiz kısıtlıdır. Bu nedenle miyokardın sistolik, özellikle diyastolik fonksiyonları üzerine kronik aneminin etkisini amaçladık. Bu amaçla 22 anemili hasta ve kontrol grubu olarak I" normal kan değerleri olan olgu çalışmaya alındı. Anemili hastalarda hematokrıt değeri 20: l.~ olarak bulundu. Hastalara ve kontrol grubuna A/-mode, iki boyutlu eko ve doppler ekokardiografi yapıldı. Sol ventrikül sistolik ve diastolik çap ve volümleri ölçüldü, e/eksion fraksiyonu (EE), strok volümü (SI') ve kardiak output (KO) hesaplandı. Diastolik mitral akım örneği üzerinden sol ventrikül diastolik fonksiyonları değerlendirildi. lirken diyastolik akım örneği (E), atrial kontraksiyon esnasında doluş örneği (A). E.A, accelarasyon time, decelerasyon time hesaplandı. Hasta grubunda ET] SI', kalp hızı, enddıastolik volüm ve kardiak output anlamlı olarak artmış ve endsıstolik volüm ise azalmış olarak bulundu. Buna ilaveten diastolik fonksiyon parametrelerinden E. E:A oranında da anlamlı azalma tespit edildi. Sonuç olarak kronik anemili hastalarda sistolik hiperfonksiyon ve diastolik fonksiyonlarda bozulma tespit edildi.
