Universities have undergone various changes due to new paradigms in the world. Developed countries found entrepreneurship as one of the solutions for this adaptation process. Turkey, effected by global, national and institutional factors, many find entrepreneurial university as an instrumental tool. Entrepreneurship has gained different aspects since Schumpeter’s explanation. Leaving aside the profit making side entrepreneurship, may be a new breath for universities with its risk taking creative an innovative aspects for the universities of knowledge society. Turkey, thus, may benefit from different types of entrepreneurship by transforming its universities to a model of productive, innovative and quality assured institutions.

Üniversiteler, çok degiskenli bir yapının etkisinde yeni çaga uyum saglamaya çalısıyor. Gelismis ülkeler bu uyumu saglamak için, “girisimci üniversite” uygulamasına yönelmis bulunuyor. Küresel, ulusal ve kurumsal etkilerin tüm baskılarını hisseden ülkemiz üniversiteleri için de, “girisimci üniversite” modeli degisim ve dönüsüm için bir araç olabilir. Girisimcilik kavramı, Schumpeter’ın açıklamalarından bu yana büyük gelismeler ve yeni özellikler kazanmıstır. Kar amacının geri planda kalıp, risk alma, yaratıcı ve yenilikçi olma özellikleri günümüzün bilgi toplumlarındaki üniversite modelinin özünü de olusturmaktadır. Kamu, devlet, kurumsal, sosyal ve iç girisimci özelliklerinden ülkemiz uygun bir model çıkartabilmelidir. Böylece; verimli, yenilikçi, yaratıcı, saydam ve kalite odaklı üniversitelere dönüsebilmek, uluslararası rekabette hak edilen yere gelebilmek olanaklıdır.
