Inequality is undoubtly a mathmetical fact. First of all, some social facts need to be be formulized when we transform this fact to the social area. Inequality implies the poverty and the prosperity whose meanings are opposite to each other. Many economists have dealt on this concept and tried to develope various methods related with inequality measurement.

Eşitsizlik şüphesiz matematiksel bir olgudur. Bu olguyu toplumsal alana taşıdığımızda öncelikle bazı sosyal olguları formülleştirmek gerekebilir. Eşitsizlik sosyal anlamda birbiriyle zıt iki anlam ifade eden yoksulluk ve gönenç kavramlarını içine alır. Pek çok iktisatçı bu kavram üzerinde durmuş ve eşitsizlik ölçümlerine ilişkin farklı yöntemler geliştirmeye çalışmışlardır.
