Abstract (2. Language):
Recently, organizational commitment, perceived organizational support, job Involvement and Job Satisfaction phenomena have been intensively studied in the management and organization literature. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of support to academics provided by their organizations to academics, their job satisfaction and the job involvement on their organizational commitment. There are four groups of variables in this study. In order to measure the variables, it is drawn upon the studies of Meyer, Allen and Smith’s (1993) on organizational commitment; Kanungo’s (1982) study on job involvement; Eisenberger, Huntington, Hutchison and Sowa’s (1986) article on perceived organizational support. General Job satisfaction scale was prepared by us. Empirical study conducted on 88 academic people at Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science. Research findings indicate that support from their organizations leads to academics’ affective commitment, job satisfaction leads to continuance commitment, and organizational support accompanied by job involvement leads to normative commitment.
