The purpose of this study was to evaluate the periodontal status and treatment needs in adults by means of clinical and radiographic findings in addition tn CPITN index, this study was taken into on 124 subjects consisting of 38 females and 86 males, ranging from 20 years old to 65 These subjects were classified into three groups according to their ages, 20-29, 30-44, and 45-65 then their CPITN values were obtained. Intraoral radiographs were taken bv using Radiovismgraphy (RVG) system. The vertical defect depths on these radiographs were counted through the "measuri;" function of the system. Furcation lesions were determined clinically and radiographic. The data achived were statistically evaluated. It has been observed that according to CPITN findings as age increases, there is decrease in the number of subjects who are periodonlally hcaity where as there is an increase in the signs of periodontal disease. It has also found out that CPITN findings estimated the periodontal disease and needs for its treatment as expected in the group of young ages, but they underestimated in that ol old ages

Bu çalışmanın amacı, erişkin bireylerde CPITN indeksine ilaveten klinik ve radyografik bulgularla periodontal durumu ve tedavi gereksinimini saptanmaktı. Çalışma yaşları 20 ite 65 arasında değişen 38 bayan 86 erkek 124 bireyde gerçekleştirildi. Bu bireyler yaşlarına göre 20-29, 3CM4 ve 45-65 olmak üzere üç gruba ayrılarak CPTTN de|erlcri alındı. Her bireyin seriperiapıka.1 ağız ıçı radyogramları Radiovisiografi (RVG) sistemi ile alındı. Bu radyogramlardan vertikal defekt derinlikleri sistemin measure fonksiyonu ile ölçüldü. Furkasyon lezyonlan radyogramlar ve klinik olarak saptandı. Elde edilen venler istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Sonuç olarak CPITN bulgularına göre yaş ilerledikçe periodontal açıdan sağlıktı birey sayısının azaldığı buna karşın periodontal hastalık bulgularının arttığı belirlendi. CPITN bulgularının genç yaş grubunda periodontal hastalık durumu ve tedavi gereksinimini olduğu gibi talmin ettiği en yaşlı grupda ise olduğundan az tahmin ettiğini saptandı.
