KONVANSİYONEL VE DİGİTAL BİTE-WİNG RADYOGRAMLAR ÜZERİNDE ÖLÇÜLEN ALVEOL KEMİK YÜKSEKLİK DEĞERLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract (2. Language):
Conventional bitewing intraoral radiographs are commonly used to detect alveolar bone loss associated with periodontal disease. Over the past few years, systems that can generate radiographic digital images without the need for radiograph film have become available for use in clinical practice. In this study, in which two methods are compared, totally measurements of 634 sites including mesial and distal regions of 1st. and 2 nd. premolar and 1st. molar teeth were taken through conventional and digital bite-wing radiograms taken from totally 103 patients. As a result of the analysis, the findings were found to be very significant (t= 3,90 and p<0,0001) for the distal of 1st. premolar tooth, and significant (t= 3,39 and p<0,001) for the distal and mesial of the 2nd. premolar when their mean were considered. In contrast, no significant difference was observed in the mesial and distal of 1st. molar tooth from the point of averages (p>0,005). These findings are supported that no comparable the use of digital radiographs and conventional radiographs in evaluation of alveolar bone loss.
