PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND CYBER VICTIMIZATION: AN INVESTIGATION WITH STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of perceived social support from family on cyber victimization and the effect of cybervictimization on perceived social support form friends. Participants were 370 high school students who were enrolled in different high schools at Sakarya. In this study, the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and Cyber Bullying Questions were applied. In correlation analysis, item which measure cyber victimization were found negatively related to items of perceived social support from family and from friends. Goodness of fit indices in path analysis (χ2/sd= 1.62, p=.027, RMSEA=.004, GFI=.98, AGFI=.96, CFI=1.00, NFI=.99, IFI=1.00, RFI=.99, SRMR=.015) which was built to examine the effect of perceived social support from family on cybervictimization and effect of cybervictimization on perceived social support from friends, indicated that the model was well fit. According to path analysis results, cybervictimization was predicted negatively by perceived social support from family and perceived social support from friends was predicted negatively by cybervictimization.

Bu araştırmanın amacı aileden algılanan sosyal desteğin siber mağduriyet ve siber mağduriyetin arkadaştan algılanan sosyal destek üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Sakarya’daki çeşitli liselerde öğrenim gören 370 lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılara Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ile Sanal Zorbalık İle İlgili Sorular uygulanmıştır. Aileden ve arkadaştan algılanan sosyal destek ile siber mağduriyet düzeyi arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek için yapılan korelasyon sonucunda siber mağduriyet düzeyini ölçen madde ile aileden ve arkadaştan algılanan sosyal destek boyutlarını oluşturan maddeler arasında negatif yönde bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Siber mağduriyetin aileden algılanan sosyal destek ve arkadaştan algılanan sosyal desteğin siber mağduriyet tarafından açıklanma düzeyini belirlemek için kurulan yapısal eşitlik modelinden elde edilen uyum iyiliği indeksleri modelin iyi uyum verdiğini göstermiştir. Yol analizi sonuçları (χ2/sd= 1.62, p=.027, RMSEA=.004, GFI=.98, AGFI=.96, CFI=1.00, NFI=.99, IFI=1.00, RFI=.99, SRMR=.015) aileden algılanan sosyal desteğin siber mağduriyeti ve siber mağduriyetin arkadaştan algılanan sosyal desteği negatif yönde yordadığını göstermiştir.
