Abstract (2. Language): 
Magnet and charter school models are the two different education models used in public schools in USA. There are magnet and charter school at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Though these models are different in terms of their goals and structures they both try to eliminate the low educational standarts of the government schools, bureaucracy and the injustice resulting from economic reasons. This article focuses on the application of these two models and tries to compare them with each other to investigate the possibility of applicability in the Turkish education system along the reform efforts.

Amerikan eğitim sisteminde yüksek okul seviyesine kadar uygulanan magnet ve charter okul modelleri devlet okullarında uygulanan iki farklı eğitim modeli olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu iki farklı eğitim modelinin hedefleri ve yapılanmaları her ne kadar farklılıklar taşıyor olsa da ortak noktaları devlet okullarında yaşanan düşük devlet eğitim kalitesini, bürokratik yapıyı ve sosyo-ekonomik nedenlerden kaynaklanan adaletsizlikleri yeni eğitim modelleri çerçevesinde gidermektir. Bu çalışma bu iki modelin işleyişlerini ele almakta ve bu modelleri karşılaştırarak Türk eğitim sistemindeki reform arayışları için bu farklı modellerin uygulanabilirliklerini incelemektedir.
