Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study is to analyze the translation equivalence of language plays in
Turkish translation of Patrick Süskind’s novel “Das Parfum”. While analysing some parts of
the novel, the translation was found fairly succesfull in the linguistic and denotativ level but
some translation equivalence problems occur in the transfer of language plays. The reason of
these equivalence problems is word for word translations from source language to target
language. Some suggestions to solve these equivalence problems were made by taking into
account the dependence on context and characteristics of target language.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Alman yazar Patrick Süskind’in “Das Parfum” adlı romanının
Türkçe çevirisinde dil oyunları eşdeğerliğini analiz etmektir. Eserin bazı bölümleri üzerinde
yapılan çözümlemeler sonucunda, çeviri dilsel ve düz anlamsal düzeyde oldukça başarılı
bulunmuş, ancak dil oyunlarının aktarılmasında çeviri eşdeğerliği sorunları tespit edilmiştir.
Bu sorunların nedeni kaynak dilden sözcük düzeyinde yapılan çevirilerdir. Konu bağlamı ve
amaç dil özellikleri dikkate alınarak, eşdeğerlik sorunlarının çözümü için öneriler getirilmiştir.
