This study is about family structure and social mobility and there is the question what is the effect of family structure on children's educational outcomes? In the focus of this study. Social mobility expresses process of obtaining occupation as one of the key determinants of socio-economic status and family structure refers to family relations and socio-economic status of family. This study aims to examine the effect on social mobility of family structure. Family structure becomes effective in the process of social mobility. Although effect of family structure reduces increasing educational opportunities and changing business conditions etc. It is suggested that show orientation from socio¬economic background to social networks in this study. Family structure iş_discussed focusing on the role of parents in obtaining status and socio-economic background. When evaluating effect of family structure on social mobility, family structure, -in particular on the basis of educational results- tendency of the family structure from socio-economic background to social networks is identified. As a result, although the arguments presented in the obtaining the status of children in the process of social mobility, increasing educational opportunities, meritocracy and changing business conditions, family structure becomes effective and families continue to use opportunities of social network. In the first chapter socio-economic background of the family in the process of social mobility is examined. In the second chapter is focused to the parent's role increasing educational opportunities and changing business conditions. At the conclusion of the socio-economic background is evaluated as a change from quantity to quality tendency from socio-economic background to social networks.
Abstract (Original Language): 
Bu çalışma aile yapısı ve sosyal hareketlilik ile ilgilidir ve çalışmanın odağında, çocukların eğitsel sonuçları üzerine aile yapısının etkisi nedir? Sorusu bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sosyal hareketlilik, sosyo-ekonomik statünün temel belirleyicilerinden birisi olarak meslek edinme sürecini; aile yapısı ise ailenin sosyo-ekonomik durumu ifade etmektedir. Bu çalışmada aile yapısının sosyal hareketlilik üzerine etkisinin incelenmesinin amaçlanmakta ve bu çalışmada, aile yapısının sosyal hareketlilikte etkili olduğu ve aile yapısının etkisinin artan eğitim olanakları, değişen iş koşulları vb. etkenlerle ilişkili olarak azalmasına rağmen aile yapısının sosyo-ekonomik etkenlerden sosyal ağ(network)lara yönelim gösterdiği ileri sürülmektedir. Çalışmada, aile yapısı, sosyo-ekonomik arkaplan ve ebeveynin statü elde etmedeki rolüne odaklanarak ele alınmıştır. Aile yapısının sosyal hareketlilik üzerine etkisi değerlendirildiğinde, statü elde etmede, aile yapısının sosyo-ekonomik arkaplandan sosyal ağlara yönelimi tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak çocukların sosyal hareketlilik sürecinde statü edinmelerinde artan eğitim olanakları, değişen iş koşulları ve meritokrasi (liyakat temelli statü edinme) gibi etkenler bir takım argümanlar sunmuş olmasına rağmen, aile yapısı etkili olmakta ve aileler çocuklarının statü elde etmesinde sosyal ağ(network) olanaklarını kullanmaya devam etmektedir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümde sosyal hareketlilik sürecinde ailenin sosyo-ekonomik arkaplanı ele alınmış, ikinci bölümde ebeveynin rolüne karşı artan eğitim olanakları ve iş koşullarının değişmesine yoğunlaşılmış, son bölümde, sosyo-ekonomik arkaplandan sosyal ağlara yönelim süreci, nicelikten niteliğe bir değişim olarak değerlendirilmiştir.
