Abstract (2. Language):
In this article it is discussed the process of convertion of the fact
“intercultural relations” to a discourse in philosophy and theatre. In the first part of
the article, it is examined the discussions in philosophy in terms of intercultural
relations in Europa and especially in Germany.
What is the main aim of intercultural relations? What are the obstacles?
What sort of attitudes are observed when encountered the “stranger”? What are the
conditions of understanding the “stranger”? As it is considered that the answers of
the questions may be given more easily in artistic platform, in the article it is
analysed the reflections of the intercultural relations discourse in theatre.
The book “Der Mohr im Mor” by Gabriele Pfeiffer, trying to systematise the
plays analysed under the title of “intercultural relations in theatre” is taken as a
source in the second part of the article. The performances and works by Theatre an
der Ruhr could be considered as convenient plays for the discription of
“intercultural relations in theatre” improved by Pfeiffer in her book.
The article comes an end with the evaluation of Theatre an der Ruhr’s own
discourse of intercultural relations in terms of power-knowledge equation
established by Foucoult.
