Abstract (2. Language):
This study includes a theoretical and practical evaluation on
readers perception of the text in terms of rhetoric. Theoretical part of the
study underlines the different aspects of rhetorical perception
methodology from structuralizm, semantics and stylistics. It also gives
information on philosophical views which have effects on reception
theory and discusses the views of theoretician of this theory. In addition it
examines the subjects such as “ reader role”, “filling the missing levels of
meaning in the text”, and “the cultural level of reader”.
In the practical part of the study, the symbols in odes “İla
musafira=To Woman Passenger” by Faruk Şûşa and “el-Cevadu’l-ebyad=
White Horse” by Mohammad Ahmad Hamad are examined.

Bu çalışma, okuyucunun metni retorik açıdan algılaması
konusunda teorik ve pratik bir değerlendirmeyi içermektedir.
Değerlendirmenin teorik yönü retorik açıdan algılama yönteminin
yapısalcılık, anlam bilim ve üslupçuluk gibi diğer metotlardan farkını ele
almakta, algılama teorisi üzerinde etkisi bulunan felsefi görüşlere
değinmekte, İser Yaws gibi bazı algılama teorisyenlerinin görüşlerini
tartışmakta, “Okuyucunun Rolü”, “Metin Boşluklarının Doldurulması”,
“Okuyucunun Kültürel Düzeyi” gibi hususları incelemektedir.
Çalışmanın pratik bölümünde ise, Fârûk Şûşe’nin “İlâ
musâfira=Kadın Yolcuya” ve Muhammed Ahmed Hamed’in “el-
Cevâdu’l-ebyad=Beyaz At” başlıklı kasidelerindeki semboller
incelenmiştir.
