This research was conducted to analyse how children perceive the marital conflict between their parents. The subjects consisted of 122 boys and girls; at the ages of 5-6, 9-10 and 14-15; all from middle and high s.e.s; half of them from families having healthy relations and the other half from families having un-healthy relations. Assessment materials were as follows: 1) A Demographics Form for children and parents. 2) Five Picture Cards showing different parental relations 3) The Mc Master Family Assessment Device. 4) The KIT The result of this research shows that the perception of marital conflict was affected by children's developmental characteristics. As the intensity of the marital conflict increased, children felt sadder and perceived the course of conflict as being more hopeless.

Çocukların ebeveynlerinin evlilik çatışmasını nasıl algıladıklarını incelemek amacıyla yürütülen bu çalışma, hepsi orta ve yüksek sosyo-ekonomik düzeye mensup, yarısı sağlıklı, yarısı da sağlıksız ailelerden gelen, 5-6, 9-10 ve 14-15 yaşlarında, toplam 122 kız ve erkek çocuk ve anne-babaları ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında, çocukların evlilik çatışmasını algılayışını değerlendirmek amacıyla, ebeveyn ilişkilerinin 5 farklı durumunu gösteren resim kartları, Anne-Baba ve Çocuk Bilgi Formu, Aile Değerlendirme ölçeği ve KIT kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları, çocukların evlilik çatışmasını algılayışlarının onların gelişimsel seviyeleri tarafından etkilendiğini; evlilik çatışmasının şiddeti arttıkça, özellikle de fiziksel saldırganlığı içerdiği zaman, çatışmanın seyri açısından daha ümitsiz algılandığını ve çocuklar için daha üzüntü verici olduğunu göstermiştir.
