Abstract (2. Language): 
Understanding of the structure of decision problem and the process of decision making are important subjects to be known in advance in the establishment of effective decision support systems. Generally, the term, Decision Support Systems (DSS), has been used to refer to systems that are computer-based aids for decision making. In this study, concerning a decision making problem in forestry, had been explained with the necessity of DSS tools, designing, impacts of data and models, and information presentation in a sample application.

Karar problemi yapılarının ve karar verme sürecinin çok iyi anlaşılması, etkili Karar Destek Sistemlerinin tasarımında önceden bilinmesi gereken önemli bir konudur. Genel olarak; Karar Destek Sistemleri (KDS); karar vermeye yardım amaçlı bilgisayar tabanlı sistemlerde kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada ormancılığa ait karar problemlerinin çözümünde KDS araçları gereksinimi, tasarımı, veri ve modellerin etkileri ve bilgi sunumu örnek bir uygulama ile ele alınmıştır.
