THE RELATIONSHIP OF PLAYING TIME TO GOAL PERSPECTIVE ORIENTATION, LIFE SATISFACTION AND PERCEIVED MOTIVATIONAL CLIMATE IN YOUNG MALE BASKETBALL PLAYERS

The aim of the study was to determine the relationship of playing time to goal perspec¬tive orientation, life satisfaction and perceived motivational climate in young male basketball players in Turkey. A total of 187 basketball players (Age = 16.34 ±1.46 years) participated in this study. "Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire", "Perceived Motivational Cli¬mate in Sport Questionnaire" and "Life Satisfaction Questionnaire" were used to determine goal perspective orientation, percevied motivational climate and life satisfaction, respecti¬vely. The data was analyzed by determining descriptive statistics and pearson correlation coefficient. Positive relationship was found between the playing time and the life satisfacti¬on (r = 0.460; P<0.00). Negative relationship was found between playing time and the mas¬tery climate (r = -0.210; P<0.01) of young male basketball players. No significant relations¬hip was found between the playing time and the task orientation, the ego orientation or the performance climate.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, genç basketbolcuların müsabaka sırasında oyunda kalma süre¬leri ile hedef yönelimleri, algılanan motivasyonel iklim ve yaşam doyumu arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmaya, 2003 yılında Konya'da yapılan Türkiye Genç Erkekler Basketbol Şampiyonasına katılan, yaş ortalaması 16.34 ±1.46 yıl olan, 16 takımdan 187 genç erkek basketbolcu katılmıştır. Basketbolcuların hedef yönelimleri "Sporda Görev ve Ego Yönelim Ölçeği_SGEYÖ", algılanan motivasyonel iklimleri "Sporda Algılanan Motivasyonel İklim Ölçe-ği_SAMIÖ" ve yaşam doyumları "Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği_YDÖ" ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrı¬ca, basketbolcuların oyunda kaldığı süre ise "Türkiye Basketbol Federasyonu Müsabaka İs¬tatistikleri bölümünden alınarak değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde, betimsel istatistikler ve korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları, genç basket¬bolcuların oyunda kalma süresi ile yaşam doyumu arasında pozitif ilişki (r = 0.460; P<0.00) ve oyunda kalma süresi ile ustalık iklimi arasında ise negatif bir ilişki (r = -0.210; P<0.01) ol¬duğunu göstermiştir. Görev yönelimli hedefler, ego yönelimli hedefler ve performans iklimi ile oyunda kalma süreleri arasında bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Sonuç olarak, yaşam doyumu ve us¬talık iklimi, sporcuların oyunda kalma süreleri ile ilişkilidir.
