Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI) and Novaco Anger Inventory short form (NAI-25) for Turkish children and adolescents. NAI-25 consists of 25 items and STAXI consists of 34 items that are distributed across the 4 subscales (trait anger, anger- in, anger-out and anger-control). The psychometric properties of the scales were examined on a sample of 1348 children and adolescents (690 girls, 658 boys) between 11-15 years of age. Reliability estimates by Cronbach alpha and Split half coefficients were acceptable for the STAXI subscales and NAI-25. Analysis shows that STAXI subscales had statistically significant relationships with NAI-25. In addition moderate interrelationships were observed between the subscales of STAXI. Children who are rated as angry/aggressive by their peers scored significantly higher on NAI-25 and three subscales of STAXI and lower on anger-control subscale of STAXI than the other group.
