This research is about, the comparison of the personality and the level of perception to their bodies of national elite
sportswomen. The survey is been carried out on 159 sportswomen, who joined national team camps of 7 different activities (basketball,
handball, football, judo, karate, wrestling, and weight lifting). The method “questionnaire survey” has been used as data collection
method. The data was been collected with, personal information questions consists of 9 item, Hacettepe personality inventory test
consists of 168 item and a many-sided body-self criterion test. Hacettepe personality inventory was preferred, because of its proven
scientific reliability. The many-sided body-self criterion test was been carried out only to a preliminary group of 80 sports students,
because of its less use. In SPSS, the correlation value of each item was sufficient. The coefficient (cronbach alpha) for the reliability of
the body-self criterion, was 0.92.
The sportswomen, who joined this research, had significant differences in personal adaptation level values in correlation of
the sport activity. According to the values, “adaptation problems” have been established in the adaptation level of weight lifting and
wrestling sportswomen. The sportswomen, who joined this research, had high social adaptation level values and established as “well
adjusted”. The sportswomen, who joined this research, had a meaningful relationship between personal adaptation and body perception
(r = 0.281; p<0.01). Body-self perception increases with personal adaptation. A significant relation between body-self perception and
social adaptation had been established (r = 0,198; p<0.05).
As personal adaptation raises so did social adaptation, and vice versa. From this point, as the body perception level increase
so did the personal and social adaptation level. Body-self perception influences personal and social adaptation the same as personal
and social adaptation did influence body-self perception.
