Social development, wealth-improvement policies, increasing prosperity, upgrading the quality of life of the community awareness have become more important within today’s global world. Regional development has become instrumental in administering the above-mentioned issues to increase the national wealth and development. Especially in recent years in global worming, countries are forced to develop different policies and projects production and service sectors. To manage the developed policies and projects more efficiently, regional and local governance tools are employed. If one takes a close look at the recent developments in Turkey’s regional and local policies and projects, especially in the Agricultural area, s/he would see a similar trend that is aligned with the global trends

This study investigates the effects of national and regional pistachio production into the regional economic and societal development. It also investigates the effects of pistachio production to the national development. The subject matters of the analyses are:
a. The pistachio producers’contribution into the regional employment figures,
b. The contribution of pistachio production into the regional income,
c. The effects of pistachio production into the national development.
The data for this study were gathered from the official documents of Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce (GCC). Face to face meetings with GCC “pistachio-producer members” were also held to gather more data. Correlation analysis was utilized to explain the related relationships. The results suggest that the pistachio production in South-East Anatolia has positive impact on the regional development, and thus, to the national development.
